Who is Prophet Muhammad (SAW)?

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was born in the year 570 in Makkah, a city in what is now Saudi Arabia. After becoming an orphan just before the age of six, he was raised by his uncle in the Quraysh tribe. Muhammad (SAW) worked as a merchant and was well known for his trustworthiness, generosity, and modesty. When he reached the age of 40, Muhammad (SAW), who was illiterate, received his first revelation from God through the Angel Gabriel, and his prophethood was established. The revelation, called the Qur'an, continued for 23 years. Once he started preaching the truth to his people, he faced persecution in Makkah. God commanded him to take his small group and migrate to the city of Madinah in the year 622. This migration marked the beginning of the Islamic calendar. Several years afterward, Muhammad (SAW) returned to Makkah, where he forgave his enemies and was able to establish Islam. From there, Islam spread quickly in Arabia and reached far and wide in the East and the West.
